With Definely Draft/Definely Read, you can edit terms and references found anywhere in your document while keeping full visibility of the provision you're reviewing. The split-screen view makes sure you always have the context you need, so you can amend a definition or cross-reference elsewhere in the contract without losing your place in the clause you're working on.
How to amend a term or reference
1. Open the split-screen editor
When you need to amend a term or reference, click Amend on the definition or reference card. This opens a split-screen view with:
The provision you're reviewing displayed in the top half of the screen.
The section you're editing shown in the bottom half.
This layout makes sure you can always see the context of your current work while making changes elsewhere in the document.
2. Make your changes
Edit the term or reference in the bottom section. You can modify the definition text, update clause language, or make any other changes you need, all while keeping the original provision visible above.
3. Close the split-screen
Once you've finished your amendments, close the split-screen view by:
Clicking the small drop-down arrow, or
Clicking Remove split in the side panel.
4. Changes sync automatically
Definely Draft/Definely Read automatically syncs your changes throughout the document and updates the side panel to reflect them. You've now successfully updated a section of your agreement without losing your place in the clause you were reviewing.
Top tip: working with Track Changes
Definely is fully compatible with Track Changes. The Show Track Changes button in the Definely ribbon pulls any track changes from the document into the side panel as well, making it even easier to review what's been amended at a glance, without having to flick back and forth between the panel and the document.
