Smart Search is the part of Definely Proof that lets you quickly find key information across your document. Unlike the other Proof categories, Smart Search isn't telling you there's an issue, it's pulling out the information you'll want to double-check at the end of a drafting session, so you can review it quickly and in isolation.
Where to find Smart Search
Open the Proof tab in the Definely panel and select the Smart Search category. Proof will list the information it has identified, grouped by subcategory.
What Smart Search surfaces
The key categories in Smart Search include:
Money: monetary values throughout the document.
Dates and times: every date and time reference.
Legislation: references to statutes, regulations and other legislative sources.
Geographic locations: countries, cities and other places mentioned in the document.
Inconsistent party names: places where a party may have been referred to using different names or variations.
This isn't a list of problems to fix, it's a way of bringing critical information to the surface so you can sense-check it before sending the document out.
Exporting to a new document
For any of the proofreading categories (not just Smart Search) you can export the issues or items into a new document for review in one place.
For example, if you want to see a list of every date in your document:
Open the relevant category or subcategory (e.g. Dates and times).
Use the tick boxes to select the items you want to include.
Click the Export button at the top of the panel.
Definely will pull your selection into a new document where you can review everything in one place, useful when you want to check a single type of information without scrolling back and forth through the original, or if you want to send the list to a client to check.

Smart Search gives you a final check on the critical information in your document, the figures, dates, places, parties and legislative references that need to be exactly right, while leaving you fully in control of any changes.
