Definely Vault is your firm's intelligent precedent library, which you can access directly in Microsoft Word. It puts your collective drafting expertise at your fingertips, helping you draft faster, draft more consistently, and make every document benefit from the firm's accumulated know-how.
Vault lives within the same side panel as the rest of Definely, so you can move seamlessly between Vault, Draft/Read, Proof, Cascade and Enhance, all from one place, all without switching windows.
What you can do with Vault
Search your firm's precedents and your own personal documents to surface relevant clauses and definitions in seconds.
Insert clauses and definitions straight into your document, with auto-formatting and correct placement (including alphabetical order for definitions).
Compare the wording in your live document against precedent clauses to see exactly where your draft diverges from your firm's preferred position.
Manage personal folders for documents you want quick access to, and share them with your team.
Two ways to fill your Vault
Vault is designed to work the way your firm already works. You can use either or both of the following:
1. Connect to your firm's Document Management System (DMS)
Vault can connect directly to your firm's DMS so you can search and reuse your firm's precedents without any extra admin. We currently support:
NetDocuments
iManage
SharePoint
2. Build your own personal Vault
You can also upload your own documents to your personal Vault, useful for go-to precedents, deal-specific reference documents, or any drafts you want at hand. Personal Vault folders can be shared with your team in just a few clicks.
Getting started
You'll be up and running in three steps:
Open your document in Microsoft Word.
