The Gaps List Generator in Definely Draft/Definely Read helps you quickly identify drafting placeholders, highlighted text and internal notes in your contract. Instead of scrolling through a long document looking for unfinished sections, you can generate a single list that surfaces every outstanding item in seconds.
What the Gaps List picks up
The Gaps List Generator scans your document and flags:
Drafting placeholders. Square brackets, "TBC", "[●]" and other markers that indicate something still needs to be completed.
Highlighted text. Any text you or a colleague has highlighted for review.
Internal notes. Comments and review notes left in the document.
Together, these give you a complete picture of every outstanding decision, question or unfinished section in your agreement.
Generating a Gaps List
There are two ways to create a Gaps List:
From the Definely ribbon. Click Generate Gaps List in the main Definely ribbon in Microsoft Word.
From the Reference Report. Click the Export dropdown and select Generate Gaps List.
Whichever route you use, Definely will then ask you to confirm exactly which placeholders you'd like to export before you hit Generate. This lets you tailor the list to the gaps you actually want to focus on, rather than including everything by default.
Why use the Gaps List Generator
