Navigating your document

Double-click any highlighted term to view its full definition in the Definely side panel. You can keep drilling into embedded information with further double-clicks, giving you complete comprehension of even the most complex provisions. References open in the same way, appearing side by side with the clause you're reviewing so you always keep context.

Editing while you work

Use Definely's split-screen amendment feature to edit definitions and references while keeping full visibility of the clause you're working on. Even as you modify another section of the document, you'll never lose sight of the provision you're reviewing.

Working across multiple documents

Link related agreements (including PDFs) to access definitions seamlessly across your entire document suite. Any definition you need is never more than a double-click away, whether it's in your current document or a linked ancillary document.

Reviewing your definitions

Use the Definition Report to view:

  • All defined terms in your document.

  • Undefined terms that may need attention.

  • Unused definitions you can review and remove.

You can also insert new definitions directly into your document, with automatic alphabetical placement and matching formatting.

Navigating your document structure

The Reference Report provides an interactive table of contents that breaks your document down into schedules, paragraphs, clauses and sub-clauses. Use it to jump to any section, view referenced text in the side panel, or export specific provisions.

Sharing definitions and references

You can generate a Word document containing your selected definitions or references in a clean table format, ready to share with colleagues or clients. Once an extract has been reviewed externally, the changes can be merged back into your master document in a few clicks.

Creating an issues list

Use Extract Changes to instantly surface all tracked changes, comments and footnotes in your document. Definely generates an exportable issues list in table format in seconds, ideal for sharing with clients or colleagues.

Generating a Gaps List

Click Generate Gaps List to export anything in the document that needs attention, such as square-bracketed text, drafting notes, highlighted text and other drafting placeholders. Definely produces the list in table format so you can action each item or add comments alongside it.
