What's new — 7th July 2026

This article covers updates between 25 June and 3 July 2026 (v3.14 to 3.17).

Highlights

Word freeze after leaving a document open — fixed

If Word has ever become unresponsive after you'd left a document open for a while, this release should fix it. We've added a caching layer for annotations and critique data that resolves the underlying cause of these freezes, so you can leave documents open without worrying about the add-in locking up Word.

Read — Definitions stay clickable, even after idle periods

Clicking a defined term to jump to its definition now works reliably — even after Word has silently cleared its highlights during idle periods, and even across multiple linked documents. Previously, definition navigation could appear to "stop working" until you made an edit; it's now selection-driven and self-heals automatically.

Read — Fixed wrong insertion position for undefined terms with linked documents

Inserting a definition when you have linked documents open now suggests the right spot in your document. Previously, the suggested position could be based on a definition that only existed in a linked file, landing your new definition in the wrong place.

Vault — New sign-in screens for iManage, NetDocuments and SharePoint

Connecting Vault to your DMS is smoother now. iManage, NetDocuments and SharePoint each get a dedicated sign-in screen, so authenticating and getting set up takes less guesswork.

Read — Home tab scrolls to your opened card

Opening an annotation card on the Home tab now scrolls the list back to the top, so the card you just opened is actually visible — no more losing your place after scrolling down a long list.

Read — Home cards show the source document for linked definitions

When a definition comes from a linked document, the Home card now shows you which document it's coming from, so it's immediately clear where that definition originates.
