What's new — 13th October 2026

This article covers updates between 7 October 2026 and 13 October 2026 (v3.58 to v3.62). It also covers three features that are now available: Inspect, Proof issues in the Inspect overlay, and AI Search in Vault.

Highlights

Inspect

Open the Inspect overlay from the Inspect button on a card in Read, or by clicking a defined term or clause in your document from any other tab, so you can check a definition without losing your place. The overlay shows the full definition or clause, lets you step through every occurrence in the document, and lets you search inside the text you're reading. Matches are highlighted in place. You can amend or replace from the card, jump to where the term is defined, and use Undo Jump to return to your reading position.

A short What's New screen titled Inspector introduces it. It shows up to three times unless you choose Don't show this again.

See Proof issues in the Inspect overlay

When you inspect a defined term or a clause, a Proof issues section now lists what Proof found about it, with a count and a card for each issue. You can fix each issue in the overlay in the same way you would in the Proof tab, without leaving what you were reading to hunt for it in Proof.

AI Search in Vault

Vault can now find the clause you mean even when your wording doesn't match how it's drafted. Alongside the usual search-as-you-type results, AI Search works out whether your query needs a semantic match, and can pick up filters, such as governing law, straight from what you type. Results always come from your own Vault documents: AI finds the best match, but Vault never generates answers or clause language.

Full changelog

Read

The Inspect overlay

  • The Inspect overlay shows a defined term or clause with its full detail and quick actions. Open it from the Inspect button on a card in Read (Home, Definition Report or Reference Report).

  • On any tab other than Read, clicking a defined term or clause in your document opens the overlay in place, without switching you to Read. On Read, a click in the document adds the term to your reading list instead.

  • The overlay fetches and shows the full text of the definition or clause body.

  • The overlay has clear empty, loading, error and unsupported states.

  • A stepper moves you to the previous or next occurrence of the term in the document.

  • You can search inside the definition or clause body, with every match highlighted in place.

  • The jump-to-term arrow appears beside the term name when the overlay opens from a click in the document or from the Definition Report, and Undo Jump returns you to your reading position.

  • The Jump to location arrow takes you to the wording of the definition.

  • If a rescan finishes while the overlay is open, the overlay body refreshes. Previously it went blank with no explanation.

  • If you cancel Replace, the overlay comes back on the same term.

  • Insert definition from the overlay opens the Insert definition page with the overlay stood aside. Cancelling brings the overlay back on the same term; completing the insertion doesn't. Previously the overlay stayed on top and the form was unreachable.

  • Definitions that are tables no longer show as a bold header with a grey fill in the overlay.

  • Term tags (for example Defined and Inline) sit in a row beneath the term name in the overlay.

  • The Home card's matching occurrence position stays in step with the overlay, and the overlay comes back when you dismiss the term picker.

  • Read tooltips show on hover only, and held hints can be closed. The three-dot menu on a card now reads "Amend or Replace", and the stepper arrows read "Move to previous occurrence in the document" and "Move to the next occurrence in the document". The "Move to the next occurrence" tooltip no longer stays on screen permanently when the overlay opens.

  • A short What's New screen titled Inspector introduces the overlay. It shows up to three times, with Don't show this again ticked by default.

Proof issues in the overlay

  • When the overlay opens on a definition or clause it shows a Proof issues section after References, with a count badge and a card for each issue (issue type, text excerpt and Fix).

  • Each issue offers the same fix as the Proof tab, including the option, cross-reference, duplicated and spell-check pickers. The overlay comes back when a picker closes.

  • After a fix, the count and list update. Go To the issue's location works as it does in the Proof tab.

  • The section shows a loading state while the Proof scan runs and updates in place when results arrive or a rescan finishes.

  • Parent terms show only their own issues.

  • If the scan carries no term data, the section is hidden rather than showing a false zero.

Reincorporate Reference Reports

  • Importing an edited export no longer fails when a clause ends with a table.

  • After a clause is reincorporated, table of contents entries and cross-references to the heading that follows it keep pointing to that heading. Previously they took you to the start of the reincorporated clause, and the heading's page number in the table of contents could be wrong. The heading also keeps its Definely paragraph id.

Proof

  • Go to issue now works for issues whose text is longer than 255 characters, such as a fully highlighted, underlined or bracketed paragraph. Previously nothing happened and the cursor didn't move.

  • Proof issues can be fixed from the Inspect overlay (see Read above).

Enhance

Text Edits

  • Enhance shows replace, delete and insert paragraph cards with a preview: a word-level redline for a replace, one struck-through line per deleted paragraph and one inserted line per new paragraph, with child paragraphs indented.

  • Accepting a replace card changes that paragraph in Word as tracked changes on only the words that changed.

  • If a card belongs to an earlier scan, or the paragraph's text has changed since, the card is refused. Enhance shows "update failed" and the card stays pending.

  • A card is no longer refused when the paragraph differs from the scanned text only in whitespace or invisible characters, such as non-breaking spaces and line separators. A real wording change is still refused.

  • A card is no longer refused just because the paragraph contains a cross-reference. Previously a reference such as "clause 5.2" was read as "clause " and never matched. Paragraphs that contain a tracked change now pass as well.

Vault

  • AI Search, natural-language search across your Vault documents, is now available to firms licensed for both Vault and Enhance. The button is labelled AI Search (previously Ask AI), because the old label suggested content generation rather than search. Vault never generates answers or clause language.

  • The Custom Field filter in Vault search now only appears for iManage, where it is confirmed to work. It is hidden for SharePoint and NetDocuments.
